Writing, Editing & Consulting Services

Let’s work together!

A writer and editor with a background in literature, design, and the built environment, I bring nearly three decades of experience creating and shaping technical writing, articles, essays, short fiction, and online content. I'm particularly interested in storytelling that bridges the worlds of art and architecture, culture and humanities, nature and science.

Working on a variety of projects is my jam: a mix of editing, writing, teaching, and one-on-one coaching. I enjoy collaborating with a range of clients, from small businesses and studio practices to individual writers. On the education and mentoring side, my sweet spot is facilitating classes and workshops and providing one-on-one coaching and editing services to adult writers.

Testimonials

“Gabriela is one of the finest teachers I've had the pleasure to study with. She's exceptionally knowledgeable and conveys her understanding succinctly, manages time well, forwards riches from group participants, and stimulates productive generative sessions. Resources she shares by email both before prepares us for each new session and after helps us consolidate what we learned in the last session, with opportunities to go deeper. 10 out of 10. No, make that 11 out of 10. If Spinal Tap can do it, Gabriela can too.”

“Gabriela is an outstanding writer and editor, a warm and creative collaborator, and an overall delight to work with. Her keen eye for detail and her sharp pen have helped us communicate our mission and programming effectively and engagingly. While working with us, Gabriela has demonstrated care and effort at every point in the creative process, involving us at every stage and making sure our needs are met. Gabriela always shows a genuine passion for helping us create the best content for our organization, and we would trust her with any writing or editing project!”
—Alison Stagner, Public Programs Director — Seattle Arts & Lectures

“Gabriela is such a great instructor that I can't say enough about her. She gives so many resources that I file away for future time to delve into more into each once the class is over. I follow all of her classes and would take anything she offers. She has such a creative mind and free spirit. The vibe in her classes allows your writing to have air and space.”

“Gabriela helped us to craft clear, effective narratives about our creative process, our team, and what makes us unique as a design practice. Working sessions with her feel almost like therapy—I can’t even count how many “ah ha!” moments came up through our conversations. Her intelligence, critical eye, positivity and extremely reliable follow-through make her a joy to work with.”
—Kristine Matthews, Principal — Studio Matthews

“I had the opportunity to receive a review and consultation from Gabriela on a set of pieces I generated in one of her classes. I found her to be intuitive, constructive, thorough, and most importantly—kind—which can make all the difference for someone like me, who tends to shy from the traditional workshop model. I would highly recommend her for something as sensitive and involved as a manuscript review.”

“As a new novelist, I was nervous to have a professional writer critique my work. But Gabriela’s open-hearted communication style, combined with her thoughtful, insightful, and practical feedback, made me so happy I took the chance! She helped me uncover themes, expand my world-building, weave in character development and see the book as a whole. Above all, she inspired me to believe I can really do this!”
